The Laico Tunis is a 5-Star-Hotel in the heart of Tunis. It’s less than ten minutes away from the newly opened cultural centre, the Cité de la Culture. A twenty minute walk brings you to the Avenue Habib Bourguiba with its cafés and designer shops. At the end of the avenue there is the historical, arabic old town, the Médina.
Furthermore, the hotel offers an airport pick up and shuttle services wherever you want to go, like the beach or the amphitheatre in Gammarth or the beautiful neighborhood Sidi Bou Said, where Macke and Klee developed their artistic work and where the work of fashion designer Azzedine Alaia is displayed in his former summer house, the Dar Alaia.

Brand new luxury
The five star hotel was opened in April 2018. The huge lobby is both elegant and stylish and offers various possibilities for business talks and relaxed seating.

The rooms in cream and a warm brown are modern, airy, and minimalist. Also, the mattresses are great. The corporate identity of the lybian hotel chain with lots of other hotels all over Africa shines through but it is enhanced by subtle Tunisian influences.

Unique: a rooftop terrace with an infinity pool

Also, the Laico is the only hotel in Tunis with an outdoor rooftop infinity pool and an indoor pool right next to it. Both offer an amazing view of the city.

The bar
Anyone who prefers their rooftop views dry might want to check out the bar on the top floor.

Or the cocktail bar in the huge lobby where we enjoyed a lovely rose called “Petale de Rose”.

And smokers, too, can enjoy themselves in the oriental shisha lounge, stylishly decorated in cream and red.

Eating in style
One of the Laico’s attractions is the amazing breakfast buffet in the Al Maeeda Buffet Restaurant with custom made eggs, warm food, fresh joghurts, antipasti, croissants, pancakes, mini-Porridge and the most delicious strawberry juice I’ve ever had.

With dinner options, too, you are spoiled for choice: the Al Meeda Buffet Restaurant, the Dar Zmen with Tunisian specialties, and an Italian restaurant offer great food and outstanding service.
The gorgeous atmosphere of the Dar Zmen restaurant takes you into a world of 1001 nights.

And do make sure you check out the Tunesian meze for two. Plenty of cold and warm Tunesian specialties in small portions offer the chance to try out the various veggie, meat and fish delicacies. Each and every one of them a special treat you should not miss.

I for one will surely be back!

It pays to be quick by the way: Booking currently offers a double room in this exquisite 5-star hotel for 189€ incl. breakfast.
